In addition to
excelling on the court, student-athletes at UCF also enjoy great
success in the classroom. Under head coach Kirk Speraw, Knights
have garnered conference academic honors on 59 occasions. Since
the 2000-01 campaign, 25 different Knights have received league
academic recognition.
Roberto Morentin, who starred at UCF from 2002-04, earned
Academic All-America District III honors following the 2003-04
campaign. Morentin was a two-time conference academic award
winner.
The Knights are active in the community, donating their time to
worthy causes throughout central Florida. Team members have
helped disabled children play baseball as part of the Miracle
Lague, worked with Habitat for Humanity to construct a home for
a needy family in downtown Orlando and helped distribute food to
the homeless in the area.
